ARDUINO
Synthesis is particularly interested in rapid prototyping tools. We're always contemplating how we can make the complex through simple methods. For that reason, Synthesis is an active sponsor of Arduino, an open-source electronics prototyping platform. One of our senior software engineers, David A. Mellis, is a co-creator of Arduino; correspondingly, David leads workshops on rapid electronic prototyping that employ the Arduino platform. On top of that, David dedicates a good portion of his working week to Arduino-centric projects.
Based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software, Arduino is intended for artists, designers, and hobbyists, enabling such users to create interactive objects and environments. The on-board microcontroller interfaces with common sensors and actuators to allow a designer's project to talk and live in the physical world. The entire Arduino system can be either hand-assembled or purchased preassembled. Regardless of which method is preferred, the software can be downloaded for free.
